Stalactites offers a flexible Greek meal at the corner of Lonsdale and Russell Streets. Choose a souvlaki for a smaller spend, order a gyros plate with salad and chips, or settle in for dips and home-style dishes. Its cave-like ceiling is part of a busy dining room that can suit a spontaneous meal after a day in the city.

A chicken gyros souvlaki is A$24.50 and a chicken gyros plate is A$39 before extras. The sample meal used for the dollar rating combines a dip, souvlaki and half a small portion of chips. Larger platters, desserts and drinks will increase the bill, and Sundays and public holidays carry a 10% surcharge.

Small groups should plan to walk in and allow for a queue. Reservations are limited to larger parties and are unavailable on Friday and Saturday evenings, public holidays and long weekends. Friday and Saturday service continues to 02:00 the next morning; Sunday closes at midnight. Keep that distinction in your post-race plan, and check the dietary guidance with staff before ordering.
