Oriental Teahouse CBD

Oriental Teahouse on Little Collins Street combines dumplings, Chinese sharing dishes and tea in a central dining room. It is a useful choice for a city lunch or an evening when your group wants to order several dishes together. Make sure the booking is for the CBD branch, rather than the separate South Yarra or Brunswick venues.

Start with a dumpling plate, add a larger dish and choose rice or greens to share. The published menu lists three xiao long bao at A$13, Szechuan pepper chicken at A$28 and Chinese broccoli at A$16. Branch prices can differ, and parties of eight or more must use a banquet, so the à la carte sample is not the right budget for every group.

The restaurant closes between lunch and dinner and is closed all day Sunday. Use it for an earlier city day, a weekday dinner or Saturday after the circuit if you can comfortably meet your reservation. Discuss dietary requirements directly: vegan and low-gluten labels describe menu choices, but cannot promise that preparation will meet every allergy or coeliac requirement.
