France-Soir

France-Soir is a South Yarra bistro for a long lunch, steak frites or a French dinner away from the circuit. Its menu brings together onion soup, snails, seafood, grilled beef and slow-cooked dishes, with a separate wine list for those who want to make an evening of it. Choose individual courses rather than a compulsory tasting menu.

Continuous service from noon to midnight gives more flexibility than a restaurant that closes between lunch and dinner. A quieter weekday lunch can fit around South Yarra or the gardens; an evening table needs enough time for the journey from your Albert Park exit. Call to reserve and confirm the final kitchen orders if you want to arrive late.

The September menu lists onion soup at A$19 and scotch fillet with frites and salad at A$55. Add a shared vegetable side, dessert or wine according to your appetite and budget. The dollar rating describes a sample food order, so a fuller meal can cross into a higher spending band. Discuss allergies, seating and access directly before booking.
