01 / The experience
Indoor laps in Port Melbourne.
Drive a 450-metre indoor circuit with timed casual sessions, tight corners and a viewing lounge for your group.
Trade watching racing for finding your own line around Auscarts' indoor circuit in Port Melbourne. The 450-metre course combines straights, hairpins and switchbacks, so a session gives you repeated chances to work on braking and corner exits. Timed casual racing is the straightforward choice for a short visit: 15 minutes costs A$58 per person, or choose 30 minutes for A$108.
Allow about an hour onsite for a single session, including the required 30-minute arrival period, registration, breath test and briefing. The indoor setting makes this a useful choice when you want an activity sheltered from the weather. Your group can spend time in the viewing lounge around the racing; save any alcoholic drinks until after driving.
This is for drivers aged 13 and over who meet the height, weight and safe-fit requirements. Helmets and hairnets are provided, but you need flat closed shoes and suitable clothing. A parent or guardian must stay with drivers under 18 and complete their indemnity form. Call ahead for a solo or small-group session: from 18 November to 31 January, the operator applies a 10-driver minimum to casual racing. Book the session before arranging the rest of your outing.
