The Devonshire Arms
A revived former railway-side tavern operated by local Milton Brewery, known for Cambridge-brewed cask ale and one of the county's strongest real-cider selections.
01 / Why it matters
More than a stop on a list.
The Devonshire demonstrates how a local brewery can rescue an ordinary neighbourhood pub without converting it into a national formula.
Previously known as the Midland Tavern, the Devonshire Arms was rescued from decline and reopened by Milton Brewery in 2010. The renovation retained the proportions of a substantial neighbourhood pub: tall windows, high ceilings, front and rear drinking areas and wooden booths. Its importance is less about untouched historic fittings than successful continuity—an older local returned to serious pub use by a Cambridge-area brewery. The drinks range centres on Milton cask beer, guest ales and an unusually extensive cider selection.
