Selection and purpose

Coverage is selected for visitor usefulness, local significance and the ability to explain the city in context. Inclusion is not a claim that a place is suitable for every reader, and omission is not a negative judgement.

Descriptions should distinguish established fact, practical guidance and editorial judgement. Superlatives and historical claims are avoided unless the available evidence supports them.

Sources and verification

Research follows a source hierarchy. Direct and authoritative sources are preferred for facts that an organisation controls; independent sources are used for context and corroboration.

• Official venue, institution, operator and public-body sources for operational facts.
• Authoritative heritage, museum, university and government records for history and identity.
• Reputable secondary sources where they add context, with uncertain claims omitted or qualified.

Changing visitor information

Opening hours, prices and access can change. Visitors are directed to the linked official institution or venue before travelling.

A page may explain the most recently researched position, but the linked official source remains the authority for live admission and operational decisions.

Commercial relationships

Editorial inclusion is not conditional on payment. Paid placements, sponsorships, affiliate links and content supplied by a commercial partner must be visibly disclosed and must not be presented as independent editorial selection.

Commercial relationships must not prevent a factual correction or require Above Guide to retain a claim that is no longer accurate.

Software and AI assistance

Software and AI-assisted tools may help organise source material, identify inconsistencies, draft working copy, structure data or prepare media. They are production tools, not accountable authors.

Above Guide is responsible for the published result. Unsupported output should not be published as fact, and automated convenience does not replace source checking for claims that affect a visit.

Images, attribution and updates

Images should be owned, licensed, credited or otherwise used on an appropriate basis. Illustrative imagery must not be used to assert a false identity or location.

The current Cambridge content version is 2026-08-09. Material factual changes update the maintained content; corrections are handled under the published corrections policy.
