Wolfson College

West — Barton Road
Founded 1965. Founded by the University in 1965 as University College, a graduate society occupying a single Edwardian house on Barton Road, it was renamed Wolfson College on 1 January 1973 in recognition of a major benefaction from the Wolfson Foundation.
The College grows outward from Bredon House, an Edwardian home on Barton Road, through plain brick courts of the 1970s whose central buildings were opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1977. Later additions such as the Lee Library and the Chancellor's Centre sit within ten acres of mature gardens laid out as a sequence of garden 'rooms'.

Visiting Wolfson College
Visitors are welcome to explore the grounds and gardens during daytime opening hours, calling at the Porters' Lodge for a College map. The gardens also open publicly through the National Garden Scheme in summer and the Open Cambridge weekend in September.
