[Official site]() Founded 1965 Where West Access Check before visiting Type College The college ### A closer *look.* West — Barton Road **Founded 1965.** Founded by the University in 1965 as University College, a graduate society occupying a single Edwardian house on Barton Road, it was renamed Wolfson College on 1 January 1973 in recognition of a major benefaction from the Wolfson Foundation. The College grows outward from Bredon House, an Edwardian home on Barton Road, through plain brick courts of the 1970s whose central buildings were opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1977. Later additions such as the Lee Library and the Chancellor's Centre sit within ten acres of mature gardens laid out as a sequence of garden 'rooms'.
