High-downforce testing curves, summer heat, and the Catalan capital.
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya sits at Montmeló, 25 km north of central Barcelona, making your transport strategy and city base two critical decisions. Witness 330 km/h braking duels into Turn 1, master the R2 train and Sagalés direct bus connections, and immerse yourself in Barcelona’s world-famous architecture, tapas, and beach culture.
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has served as the benchmark test track for Formula 1 machinery for more than three decades. Featuring a demanding mix of high-speed sweeping corners (like Turn 3 and the restored fast final sector) and a grueling 1.047 km pit straight, the circuit tests car aerodynamics, tyre degradation, and driver endurance to the absolute limit.
For spectators, attending Montmeló requires a smart logistical gameplan. The circuit is located 25 km north of Barcelona in a dry, sun-baked industrial valley. Taking the Rodalies R2 train from Passeig de Gràcia is the standard route, but drops fans at Montmeló station, leaving a hot 35-minute uphill trek to the gates. Savvy racegoers take advantage of direct express coaches departing from Estació del Nord, which drop fans right outside the circuit perimeter.
Choose roof cover if shade matters to you. Allow extra time for the return train from Montmeló, then head to El Born or Gràcia for tapas.

What is the best way to get from central Barcelona to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya?
The official Sagalés Express Bus from Estació del Nord is the easiest route because it drops you directly at the circuit gates, bypassing the 35-minute train station walk. Alternatively, take the Rodalies R2 Nord train from Passeig de Gràcia or Barcelona Sants to Montmeló station (25 mins), followed by a 35-minute walk or local shuttle.
How much do Barcelona F1 tickets cost?
Three-day Pelouse (General Admission) grass passes start around €175–€220. Reserved 3-day Grandstand seats range from €295 (Fan stands) to €650 (Covered Main Grandstand & Grandstand I). Premium hospitality packages (Montjuïc Club, Garden Village, and Paddock Club) range from €1,850 to €4,450+.
Which grandstands have covered shade at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya?
Only the Main Grandstand (Tribuna Principal) and Grandstand I feature full permanent roof canopies. Grandstands L, G, B, and all Pelouse General Admission grass areas are completely exposed to the direct Mediterranean sun.
Is it better to stay in Barcelona city center or near Montmeló/Granollers?
Stay in central Barcelona (Eixample, Gothic Quarter, or Gràcia) within walking distance of an R2 train station. Montmeló has almost no hotels or evening dining. Staying in the city gives you access to world-class tapas bars and nightlife after track action ends.
How far is the walk from Montmeló train station to the circuit gates?
The walk is approximately 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles) and takes 30 to 40 minutes along flat, paved industrial roads. During Grand Prix week, local shuttle buses connect the station to the track, but queues can be extensive.
What is the difference between the Barcelona race and the new Madrid F1 race?
Montmeló is a permanent, high-speed dedicated motorsport circuit located 25 km north of Barcelona. Madrid’s new MADRING race (debuting in 2026) is a hybrid semi-permanent street circuit located around the IFEMA exhibition complex directly connected to Madrid’s city metro network.
Can spectators walk on the track after the Barcelona Grand Prix?
Yes. Following Sunday’s podium ceremony, circuit marshals open track gates along the pit straight, allowing fans onto the track surface to celebrate the podium and visit the trackside fan village before heading to the train station.
