Lockhart State Park
Add a reserved park walk before barbecue on a full Lockhart day.
01 / The experience
Lockhart State Park
Lockhart State Park gives the barbecue trip an outdoor first half, with short trails and historic park structures. In late October the swimming pool is out of season, so plan around walking and the landscape rather than a swim.
The park often reaches capacity and recommends day-use reservations. Check live alerts and trail conditions, carry water and keep the visit proportionate to the meal and drive back to Austin.
