Westcott House

It is a small working Church of England seminary rather than a tourist college, notable for having formed Archbishops of Canterbury behind an unassuming Jesus Lane doorway.

The college

A closer
look.

Central-n — Jesus Lane

Founded 1881. It began in 1881 as the Cambridge Clergy Training School, founded by Brooke Foss Westcott, then Regius Professor of Divinity and later Bishop of Durham, and took its founder's name after his death.

Late-Victorian red-brick ranges sit around a quiet enclosed court off Jesus Lane, with a deliberately simple chapel at the heart of the House. The street frontage is modest and easy to walk straight past.
