Founded 1937. Founded in 1937 by the industrialist Lord Nuffield (William Morris, founder of Morris Motors); it was the first Oxford college established exclusively for graduate students.
A 20th-century college in Cotswold domestic style designed by Austen Harrison, distinguished by a tall modernist tower (the first tower built in Oxford in some 200 years) that houses the college library. It stands on the site of the former Oxford Canal basin in the city's west end.
