Rail

Train

Oxford has two railway stations. Choose the one printed on your ticket: they are in different parts of the city.

OXF

Oxford railway station

Oxford’s central station is west of the city centre, around a straightforward walk from the main sights.

Best for
The historic centre, Westgate and a first visit on foot.
Onward
Walk east through Frideswide Square, or continue by local bus or taxi from outside the station.

OXP

Oxford Parkway railway station

Oxford Parkway is north of the city, beside the Park & Ride site rather than in the historic centre.

Best for
Arrivals from the Chiltern line and visitors staying north of Oxford.

Continue into central Oxford by rail, bus or taxi; allow for this transfer before the first itinerary stop.

Bus

Bus and coach

Gloucester Green is Oxford’s central coach station. Local bus stops are spread across the centre rather than contained in one terminal.

City centre

The central coach station sits just west of Cornmarket, with the historic core close by on foot.

Best for
Long-distance coaches and buses arriving in the heart of Oxford.
Onward
Walk into the centre from Gloucester Green or connect to local buses on the surrounding streets.

Local buses

Oxford’s local services use stops around the city centre, including George Street, St Aldate’s, High Street and Gloucester Green. The exact stop depends on the service, so check the operator journey planner before travelling.

P&R

Park & Ride

Five sites intercept the main approaches to Oxford. Pick the side of the city you are arriving from, then continue by bus.

North

Pear Tree Park & Ride

Park north of Oxford and complete the journey into the centre by dedicated bus.

Best for
Drivers approaching from the north, A34, A44 or northern M40.
Onward
Continue into Oxford by Park & Ride bus; the itinerary planner uses the scheduled services for your selected date and time.

Drivers arriving from the north and north-east.

Park on the eastern edge of Oxford and continue into the centre by dedicated bus.

Drivers approaching from London, the east or the M40.
