The Radcliffe Camera is the circular, domed library at the heart of Radcliffe Square and the defining image of Oxford. Designed by James Gibbs in an English Palladian style and built between 1737 and 1749 from the bequest of Dr John Radcliffe, it is today a reading room of the Bodleian Libraries. The exterior can be admired free from the square at any time; the interior is open to the public only on Bodleian guided tours.
