Monaco and the French Riviera during Grand Prix week

Monaco with children

Build a race weekend
that can bend.

With children, the best plan is the one you can abandon without losing the day. One fixed anchor, somewhere quieter to retreat to and no essential move during dispersal.

One fixed thing. A retreat route. Everything else optional.

The racing is part of the trip, not the whole of it, and the plan has to survive a tired six-year-old.

The day before it starts

Monaco without the noise. One fixed thing, a beach, and no journey that depends on a road being open.

  1. 01
    Morning on the beach

Larvotto is level, outside the closed roads, and stays usable all weekend.

  2. 02
    Boat bus across the harbour

Line B of the local network is a solar-electric boat across Port Hercule — a short crossing that children tend to remember.

  3. 03
Up to the Rock, using the lifts

The public lifts and escalators exist precisely because of the gradients. Use them rather than the stairs.

  4. 04
    Back before the evening build-up

The circuit side gets loud and crowded early in the weekend.

Lift and escalator availability is not something this guide can confirm day to day.

Race day · No ticket assumed

Race day, from outside the noise

Being near the race without being inside it. The aim is a day that can be abandoned at any point without ruining anything.

  1. 01
Stay east of the circuit in the morning

Larvotto and the seafront keep working while the closed roads do not.

  2. 02
Find a screen with somewhere to sit

A seat and shade matter more than a view of the track when the day is long.

  3. 03
    15:00 · provisionalRace

The race. Sound carries a long way in Monaco, so you will hear it wherever you are.

  4. 04
Do not attempt to move at the end

Dispersal with children is the worst hour of the weekend. Wait it out on the beach side.

Crossing the circuit during the race is not possible except at controlled points, and those are not published for 2027.
