Inside the Spielberg guide

High-speed Alpine racing, natural bowl sightlines, and electric festival energy.

Experience Formula 1 surrounded by the majestic Styrian Alps at the Red Bull Ring. Take in panoramic sightlines across 70% of the circuit from the Red Bull Grandstand, navigate the region’s accommodation shortage between lively campsites and historic Graz, and master the Knittelfeld train-shuttle network.

The Red Bull Ring is one of Formula 1’s most spectacular visual showcases. Carved into the natural hillside of the Murtal valley against a backdrop of snow-dusted Alpine peaks, its compact 10-corner layout features just 63 seconds of wide-open throttle, aggressive elevation changes, and high-speed Straight Mode runs where drivers utilize 2027 Overtake Mode electrical deployment into heavy braking zones.

For spectators, attending the Austrian Grand Prix requires a clear strategy for accommodation and transit. Spielberg is a tiny rural community with almost zero hotel rooms. The vast majority of attendees either immerse themselves in the famous 24/7 festival culture of trackside campsites (Pink, Green, Yellow) or base themselves in Graz (Austria’s culinary second city) and commute via dedicated ÖBB event trains and free circuit shuttles.

Travel via Knittelfeld to avoid driving the full approach on the S36. Choose a grandstand with the view and weather cover you want, and reserve spa visits or dinner for after the racing.

Which grandstand is best at the Red Bull Ring?

The Red Bull Grandstand (Sectors A–H) offers the most panoramic view on the F1 calendar, with continuous sightlines across 70% of the circuit (Turns 1 through 7). Turn 3 (Steiermark) is best for watching heavy-braking 320 km/h overtakes as drivers deploy 2027 Overtake Mode electrical boosts at the highest elevation point of the track.
