01 / The experience

Zócalo · Plaza de la Constitución

Use the Zócalo as the main landmark for a Centro outing, with Templo Mayor nearby and Bellas Artes further west. During Día de Muertos, visit the monumental ofrenda only within the city’s announced opening arrangements.

Allow for queues and managed pedestrian entry. The square's pin represents the host plaza; it does not identify an installation entrance, a meeting point or a guaranteed quiet viewing position. Ask before photographing people and leave altar objects undisturbed.

Getting there

Zócalo · Plaza de la Constitución

Plaza de la Constitución, Centro Histórico, Cuauhtémoc, Ciudad de México

The pin marks Plaza de la Constitución. Check whether Zócalo/Tenochtitlan station and your chosen exits are operating. Use an alternative functioning Centro station when directed; follow official pedestrian entry lanes.

Plan your visit

Check the city programme and daily access instructions before setting out. Free entry does not remove queues, cordons or capacity controls.

Accessibility

Ask about the currently accessible entry lane, crowd arrangements and resting places. An open plaza does not guarantee an unobstructed wheelchair route.
