Where to Stay for Chinese F1
Why staying in central Shanghai along Line 11 is the only smart strategy.
The #1 mistake first-time visitors make is booking hotels in Jiading near the circuit. Jiading is an industrial outer suburb 35 km northwest of downtown with no evening nightlife, Western dining, or tourist attractions. Instead, base yourself in central Shanghai along or near Metro Line 11. Jing’an (near Jiangsu Road station) provides luxury high-rises and direct Line 11 platform access. The Former French Concession (Xuhui) offers historic tree-lined avenues, boutique hotels, and speakeasies. The Bund and People’s Square put you within walking distance of iconic skyline views while remaining just a quick Line 2 to Line 11 transfer away from the track.
