01 The experience

### What to expect.

Watch Marina Bay open out beneath you as Singapore Flyer carries you 165 metres above the city. The slow, air-conditioned ride gives you time to pick out Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay and the waterfront around the Grand Prix circuit. Visit in daylight to get your bearings or around dusk for the skyline as the lights come on.

Choose the ordinary ticket for Time Capsule and a shared 30-minute rotation. A reserved Champagne or Singapore Sling flight adds priority boarding and a drink; 165 Sky Dining turns the view into a 90-minute dinner. Premium flights still share a capsule unless you specifically book a private experience.

For a first Singapore visit, allow 60–90 minutes for the ordinary experience, including the exhibition and boarding. Add a buffer before dinner reservations or circuit entry: queues, weather pauses and race-week diversions can change the timing.

On 9–11 October 2026, eligible Zone 1 and 2 race-pass holders have a separate complimentary ride entitlement, subject to capacity. Plan the Flyer as an extra perspective on the event; keep your grandstand or viewing area for the sessions you want to watch. Ordinary attraction bookings do not grant Circuit Park admission.

The story

### History & character.

Singapore Flyer belongs to the early twenty-first-century remake of Marina Bay. The bay was no longer simply an edge to the central city; it was becoming a planned visitor district, civic stage, skyline foreground and global-events setting. The Flyer gave that new district an instantly readable vertical marker before Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay completed the wider composition.

The attraction was conceived by architect Dr Kisho Kurokawa with DP Architects. Official Singapore Flyer material presents the project as more than a wheel: a total attraction with terminal building, retail, food and beverage, leisure uses and an observation experience. The engineering brief was therefore both symbolic and practical. It had to be tall enough to command the bay, stable enough for a slow premium ride, and operationally efficient enough to move large numbers through a tourist district.

The official project timeline places the mock capsule unveiling in May 2007, corporate inaugural flights in February 2008, soft launch in March 2008 and official opening on 15 April 2008. That timing matters for Formula 1 visitors because the first Singapore Grand Prix also arrived in 2008. The wheel and the night race therefore share a founding moment in Singapore’s modern visitor identity: both helped turn Marina Bay into an international night-time image of the city.

The wheel’s design is notable for its slim ladder-truss rim, rather than the heavier triangular rim used on many large observation wheels. The capsules sit outside the rim and are designed as air-conditioned viewing rooms. The official fun-facts material gives the headline numbers: 165 m high, 150 m diameter, twenty-eight capsules, twenty-eight passengers per capsule and a rotation speed of around 0.24 metres per second. The full revolution is about thirty minutes.

Ownership and operation changed after opening. Singapore Flyer was acquired in 2014 by Straco Corporation through Straco Leisure, a joint venture involving Bay Attractions and WTS Leisure. For an editorial guide, the important point is continuity: despite ownership changes, the wheel remains one of Marina Bay’s fixed visitor anchors.

The attraction has also evolved from a pure observation ride into a packaged Singapore story. Time Capsule, introduced in 2020 and reimagined in 2025, frames the ride with a two-level interactive prelude about the island’s development, culture and transformation. That matters because the Flyer can otherwise feel like a simple skyline platform. The combined visitor product now tries to make the view more legible: first the story of Singapore, then the city seen from above.

During race week the Flyer carries extra meaning. Formula 1’s own Singapore visitor copy points to the Flyer as a way to get the lay of the land. Premium race hospitality has also used the Flyer as part of the event experience, although access and inclusions are package-specific and subject to change. Visit for orientation and skyline views. For race viewing, choose a ticket or hospitality package that explicitly includes it.

Look closer

### Highlights and hidden details.

The objects, spaces and small observations that turn a visit into a memorable one.

01

#### Marina Bay in one sweep

Take in the skyline, Gardens by the Bay and the water from a slow-moving capsule. Daylight is especially useful for understanding the city before exploring it on foot.

02

#### Time Capsule before the view

Begin an ordinary visit with Singapore's story in an indoor exhibition, then see the modern city from above.

03

#### A drink above the skyline

Choose a reserved Champagne or Singapore Sling flight for priority boarding and a toast during the rotation. These are shared experiences; book a private capsule separately if exclusivity matters.

04

#### Dinner over three rotations

165 Sky Dining gives you 90 minutes above Marina Bay with a seated meal. Leave it for an evening when you can enjoy the whole experience without rushing to the circuit.

05

#### An extra perspective for F1 fans

The wheel sits beside the circuit district, helping you understand the bay and its landmarks. Eligible race-pass holders can use the complimentary ride arrangement during the 2026 Grand Prix, subject to the queue and capacity.

A capsule at the boarding platforms

Beyond the obvious

#### Details worth slowing down for.

01

#### A wheel built for calm, not speed

The stated rotation speed is only around 0.24 m/s. That is why the Flyer feels steady rather than thrilling.

02

#### The 28-by-28 structure

Twenty-eight capsules, twenty-eight passengers each: the attraction’s capacity logic is part of its identity.

03

#### The rim is deliberately slim

Official material highlights a ladder-truss rim rather than a heavier triangular structure, helping the wheel read cleanly on the skyline.

04

#### The clear-day claim needs caution

The official view radius is up to 45 km, but haze, rain and humidity decide what visitors actually see.

05

#### F1 value is contextual

It is useful for understanding the circuit district. It should not be described as a substitute for a Grand Prix ticket.

06

#### Time Capsule changes the product

The 2025 refresh means current visitors are not just buying “a wheel ride”; they are buying a Singapore narrative plus the view.

Singapore Flyer

30 Raffles Avenue, Singapore 039803

Outside the Grand Prix, use Promenade MRT CC4/DT15 Exit A and walk to the terminal. The operator’s ordinary walk estimate does not account for race-week diversions.

Premium dining, Champagne and Sling guests check in at the Level 1 VIP Lounge 30 minutes before the reservation.

On 9–11 October, follow your same-day race ticket’s permitted Circuit Park gate and zone. An ordinary Flyer booking does not grant circuit entry.

[See Flyer arrival directions](<https://www.singaporeflyer.com/en/amenity/getting-to-singapore-flyer>)

#### Book the visit you want

For ordinary sightseeing, choose a standard ticket. For a reserved occasion, select the Champagne, Sling, dining or private-capsule product and confirm availability for your actual visit date.

[Choose Flyer tickets](<https://www.singaporeflyer.com/en/ticket/singapore-flyer-ticket>)

Race-pass rides are a capacity-limited inclusion, not a reserved premium flight. They do not guarantee a ride during your chosen race moment.

For shared Sky Dining, children must be at least 3; groups of five or more need a private capsule. Advise dietary requirements at least three days ahead and follow the smart-casual dress code.

#### Keep the race session protected

Use the Flyer for skyline views, then return to your booked viewing area before the session you want to watch. Allow time for the boarding queue, full rotation and permitted walk; do not use the wheel as a substitute for a grandstand or plan a quick zone crossing.

#### Accessibility

The operator provides wheelchair-accessible capsules and assisted boarding. Ask about your chair or mobility aid and the available boarding assistance before booking.

Race-week approaches may differ from the ordinary route. Agree the permitted gate and step-free approach with the organiser/operator rather than relying on proximity to the wheel.

#### Dress code

For Sky Dining, wear smart-casual clothing; shorts, sandals and slippers are not permitted.

#### Participation requirements

Premium Champagne is for guests aged 18 and over. Singapore Sling bookings serve a mocktail to guests under 18. Shared Sky Dining excludes children under 3; groups of five or more need a private capsule. Advise dietary needs at least three days ahead.

### Choose your experience

**Standard admission — S$46 per adult, S$28 per child aged 3–12.** Under-threes enter free. The ticket includes Time Capsule, one shared 30-minute rotation and FLYER360 landmark features. The S$28 senior fare is for eligible Singapore residents aged 60 and over, with ID. Ordinary visits do not require a reserved time slot.

**Champagne or Singapore Sling — S$79 per adult.** Both include a shared 30-minute rotation, priority boarding, a drink, chocolate and Time Capsule. Champagne is for ages 18 and over. Sling guests under 18 receive a mocktail; its child ticket is S$36 for ages 3–12. Check in at the Level 1 VIP Lounge 30 minutes before your reserved flight.

**165 Sky Dining — S$260 per adult, S$130 per child aged 3–12.** Dinner takes three rotations, about 90 minutes, in a shared capsule. Arrive 30 minutes early at the Level 1 VIP Lounge. Wear smart casual clothing; shorts, sandals and slippers are not admitted. Groups of five or more diners, or families with children under three, must book a private capsule. Send dietary requests at least three days before dinner.

These are advertised prices in Singapore dollars, including GST. Confirm the date, available flight and full terms before paying. A premium booking does not include race entry or a private capsule unless specifically stated.

### Timing and arrival

Ordinary opening is daily 10:00–22:00, last admission 21:30. Allow **60–90 minutes** for a standard visit. For Sky Dining, set aside at least **two hours** for the 30-minute check-in lead and 90-minute flight, plus any exhibition visit. Queue times have no fixed guarantee.

Arrive at **30 Raffles Avenue, Singapore 039803**. Outside race restrictions, the ordinary approach from Promenade MRT (CC4/DT15), Exit A, is advertised as an eight-minute walk. During Grand Prix operations, use your ticket's permitted gate and signed route; do not rely on that ordinary walking time or an unrestricted car drop-off. The map pin marks the Flyer venue, with boarding and the VIP Lounge reached inside.

Daylight makes landmarks easier to identify; dusk gives a changing skyline within one rotation. Night adds reflections on the glass. Rain and haze reduce visibility, and lightning or severe weather can pause boarding. Leave a generous margin before a timed race session.

### Grand Prix access on 9–11 October 2026

Zone 1 and 2 race ticketholders receive complimentary rides, first come, first served and subject to capacity. Singapore local hours are Friday **13:30–23:00**, Saturday **14:15–23:00** and Sunday **15:00–23:00**; last flight is **22:30** each day. Allow for the queue as well as the rotation.

Use your permitted Circuit Park access. An ordinary Flyer ticket does not grant circuit admission. The complimentary entitlement does not promise a reserved flight, drinks or Time Capsule entry, and you cannot guarantee boarding at a chosen race moment.

### Before the race weekend: offers end 8 October

**Pit Stop in the Sky — S$89 nett per person:** one shared rotation, free-flow wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks, priority boarding, a host and a racing-themed photo print. **Day-to-Night — S$69 nett per ticket:** two admissions on the same day. Both promotional visit periods run from 1 September to **8 October 2026**; neither is a race-weekend admission product.

### Access and family planning.

Accessibility guide

The operator describes wheelchair-accessible capsules with staff-assisted boarding. Ramps, lifts and accessible toilets serve the terminal; accessible parking is beside a lift. This makes the enclosed, air-conditioned ride a useful option for visitors who want a city view with less walking.

Contact Singapore Flyer at **customer\_service@singaporeflyer.com** before booking if you need assistance with a particular mobility aid, companion arrangement or premium flight. Ask staff for the appropriate boarding route on arrival; the venue map pin is not a boarding entrance.

There are no toilets inside the capsule, so use terminal facilities before the flight. Guide, hearing and other service dogs are permitted under the operator's terms.

The approach still involves outdoor heat and possible rain. Race-week barriers may change the walking route and vehicle drop-off. Confirm a permitted, accessible approach for your race ticket and day; ordinary terminal accessibility does not establish step-free access through every circuit gate.

Family guide

The slow rotation and air-conditioned capsule suit a mixed-age group that wants skyline views without a thrill ride. Choose daylight so children can pick out the buildings and water below.

Standard tickets are S$46 for ages 13 and over and S$28 for ages 3–12; under-threes enter free. Children aged 12 and under must stay with a supervising adult. The current online Family Value Bundle advertises S$110 for two adults and one child; check its dates and conditions before booking.

Use the toilets before boarding: there are none in the capsule. The operator asks guests to leave bulky items, including strollers and luggage, with staff before the flight. Carry a small day bag and ask about your stroller when you arrive. Snacks and drinks cannot be consumed inside unless arranged by the operator.

For a celebratory drink flight, Singapore Sling offers a mocktail for under-18s; Champagne is restricted to ages 18 and over. For dinner, a shared Sky Dining capsule accepts children from age three. Families with younger children need a private capsule, as do groups of five or more diners.

During the Grand Prix, leave room for the complimentary-ride queue and extra walking. Do not fit the flight immediately before a session your family wants to see.

Self-guided walk

### Explore beyond the venue.

A practical, step-by-step route connecting this experience with more of Singapore Grand Prix.

01

#### 1. Arrive and get ready

Go to the terminal at 30 Raffles Avenue. Have your ticket ready and use the toilets before boarding. Reserved Champagne, Sling and dining guests check in at the Level 1 VIP Lounge 30 minutes early.

02

#### 2. Explore Time Capsule

For an ordinary admission, start with the indoor exhibition before the rotation. Leave enough time to enjoy it rather than treating it as a corridor to the wheel. Follow your package instructions if you have booked a premium flight.

03

#### 3. Read the bay as you rise

Find Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay, then trace the skyline and water. Share the glass space with fellow passengers and keep a phone close to the window to reduce reflections.

04

#### 4. Take in the circuit district

Look for the Pit Building area and the roads around the wheel. Treat this as orientation; a queue or changing capsule position cannot promise the view of a specific lap.

05

#### 5. Choose the next stop

Outside circuit restrictions, pair the visit with ArtScience Museum or Gardens by the Bay using the open waterfront route. On 9–11 October, follow your race pass's permitted zones and crossings. Leave time to return to your viewing area before track action.

Make a record

### Photograph it thoughtfully.

Best subjects: Marina Bay skyline, Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, the Singapore River corridor, Esplanade, the Pit Building area, the wheel structure itself and night reflections.

Best approach:

- Shoot early in the rotation before glass reflections build up.
- Use a phone lens close to the glass to reduce glare.
- For night, expose for the skyline, not the capsule interior.
- Blue hour is the strongest all-round timing.
- Photograph the wheel from outside as well as from inside it.

Rain and haze can hide distant landmarks. Focus on the bay and nearby skyline when visibility is limited.

### Make more of the area.

01

#### Gardens by the Bay

A good pairing outside circuit restrictions. Flower Dome closes on 6 October 2026, with a section of its Flower Field also closed 18:30–19:30 on 8 October; the remainder stays open that evening.

02

#### Marina Bay Sands SkyPark

Another Marina Bay perspective. It is closed on 9 October 2026; on 10–11 October it opens until 22:30, last entry 21:30. The deck ticket includes neither the hotel pool nor CÉ LA VI.

03

#### ArtScience Museum

Good wet-weather or family pairing near the Sands side of the bay.

Good to know

### Questions, answered.

01 How much is a standard ticket?

The advertised fare is S$46 for ages 13 and over and S$28 for ages 3–12, including GST. Under-threes enter free. The S$28 senior fare requires eligible Singapore residency, age 60 or over and ID.

02 How long should I allow?

Plan 60–90 minutes for an ordinary visit, including the exhibition, boarding and a 30-minute rotation. Sky Dining needs at least two hours for its check-in lead and 90-minute flight, plus time for Time Capsule. Queues and weather pauses can add time.

03 What does ordinary admission include?

Time Capsule, one rotation in a shared capsule and FLYER360 landmark features. It does not include a meal, premium drinks or race entry.

04 Is a Champagne or Sling flight private?

No. Both are shared flights with priority boarding. Champagne is for ages 18 and over; Sling offers mocktails to under-18s. Book a private capsule separately if you want exclusive use.

05 Can children join Sky Dining?

Children aged 3–12 can book the child package. Under-threes are not admitted to shared dining capsules. A private capsule is required for younger children or groups of five or more diners.

06 Can I use an ordinary ticket during the Grand Prix?

It does not grant Circuit Park entry. For 9–11 October 2026, follow the eligible race-pass arrangement in the visitor guide and your permitted gate and zone access.

07 Does the complimentary race-pass ride include the exhibition or drinks?

The race notice specifies a Flyer ride only; do not assume ordinary or premium inclusions. Capacity and the queue determine whether and when you board.

08 Can I watch a chosen F1 session from the wheel?

Keep your grandstand or viewing area as the plan for that session. The flight is moving, and the queue cannot guarantee your preferred race moment.

09 Is it wheelchair accessible?

The terminal has ramps, lifts and accessible toilets; staff assist wheelchair users with boarding. Contact the operator before booking for a specific mobility aid or race-week approach.

10 Are there toilets in the capsule?

No. Use the terminal toilets before boarding. Staff also ask you to leave strollers and other bulky luggage before the flight.

11 What happens in bad weather?

Lightning alerts pause boarding, and poor visibility affects the view. The standard ticket terms allow affected guests to revisit within 30 days after a weather suspension; premium guests should contact the operator about rescheduling.

12 Should I choose daytime or night?

Daytime helps you identify landmarks. Dusk combines the view with the city lights switching on; night is atmospheric but produces more reflections in photographs.

### Conflict ledger

- Opening hours, package availability, premium pricing and race-week access are volatile. Official Singapore Flyer and Singapore GP sources override static guide copy.
- View distance is weather-dependent. Do not convert “up to 45 km” into a guaranteed visitor outcome.
- Race-week wording must distinguish orientation value from paid circuit visibility.
- Current operator ticket data supersedes the October 2025 brochure and July 2024 gift-certificate fares. Do not revive S$40/S$25 standard or S$31 child Sling pricing.

| Description | Rise above Marina Bay in a shared capsule on Singapore Flyer. Standard admission combines Time Capsule with one 30-minute rotation and FLYER360; allow 60–90 minutes for the whole visit. Choose a daytime ride to read the city’s landmarks or an arrival-day evening for the illuminated skyline. For a reserved occasion, compare Champagne, Singapore Sling and 165 Sky Dining. Dining lasts 90 minutes across three rotations; premium bookings use the Level 1 VIP Lounge and require arrival 30 minutes before the reservation. A premium flight is a separate booking, and a shared capsule is not a private event. During 9–11 October 2026, same-day race tickets with Zone 1 or Zone 2 access include complimentary rides, first come first served and subject to capacity. Ordinary Flyer tickets do not grant Circuit Park entry. Keep your ticketed grandstand or viewing area as your plan for watching a particular race session. |
