The foreground is a Queens waterfront of piers, paths and gardens, so the view feels different from an observation room high above Midtown. It is a good choice when you want an outdoor city experience without another timed attraction ticket.\n\nThe restored gantries give the park its name and its strongest link to the industrial waterfront. They once helped load and unload railcar floats and barges. Standing beside those structures makes the history visible in the same frame as the city across the river: machinery built to move freight now defines a public place to walk and sit.\n\nThe four piers offer different points from which to read the river and skyline. A short visit can focus on the gantries and one pier; a longer one can follow more of the waterfront paths and garden areas. The Pepsi-Cola sign supplies another recognisable landmark.
