"editorialMarkdown": "2027 / Linked race journeys\n\n## Formula 1 Asia-Pacific Triple Header 2027: Melbourne, Suzuka & Shanghai\n\nThree race weekends. Two journeys between them. Build a trip around Melbourne, Suzuka and Shanghai, with time in Japan between the races and a city stay before the Shanghai finale.\n\n01 / The race sequence\n\n### Three weekends. One connected trip.\n\nRace weekends run from 2 to 18 April. Allow roughly three weeks with arrival and departure days; the layovers below are suggested plans.\n\n1. Leg 1 Round 3\n\n #### Melbourne\n\n 02–04 Apr 2027\n\n Australian Grand Prix · Albert Park\n\n Arrive before the opening sessions. Choose a Melbourne base with a practical Albert Park journey, then leave room for the transfer to your flight to Japan.\n\n [Melbourne race guide →](<https://above.guide/australia-f1>)[Circuit transport →](<https://above.guide/australia-f1/getting-to-melbourne>)[Race-week schedule →](<https://above.guide/australia-f1/race-week>)[Hotels & bases →](<https://above.guide/australia-f1/where-to-stay>)\n2. Leg 2 Round 4\n\n #### Suzuka\n\n 09–11 Apr 2027\n\n Japanese Grand Prix · Suzuka Circuit\n\n Move from your Kyoto stay to your race-weekend base before Friday. Choose the circuit journey alongside the hotel, especially for the trip back after Sunday’s race.\n\n [Suzuka race guide →](<https://above.guide/japan-f1>)[Circuit transport →](<https://above.guide/japan-f1/getting-to-suzuka>)[Race-week schedule →](<https://above.guide/japan-f1/race-week>)[Hotels & bases →](<https://above.guide/japan-f1/where-to-stay>)\n3. Leg 3 Round 5\n\n #### Shanghai\n\n 16–18 Apr 2027\n\n Chinese Grand Prix · Shanghai International\n\n Reach Shanghai before the opening sessions. Balance time in the city with the journey to Shanghai International Circuit, then plan your onward departure.\n\n [Shanghai race guide →](<https://above.guide/china-f1>)[Circuit transport →](<https://above.guide/china-f1/getting-to-shanghai>)[Race-week schedule →](<https://above.guide/china-f1/race-week>)[Hotels & bases →](<https://above.guide/china-f1/where-to-stay>)\n\n- [Formula 1 · official 2027 calendar](<https://corp.formula1.com/2027-calendar-announced-with-10-sprint-events/>)\n\n02 / Between the races\n\n### Make the days between count.\n\n5–8 April · suggested layover\n\n#### Melbourne → Kyoto → Suzuka\n\nUse the first gap for Japan. Compare an arrival through Osaka with a Tokyo arrival plus onward rail; choose against your actual flight availability and Kyoto hotel check-in.\n\n1. Monday: travel from Melbourne to Japan. Allow for arrival formalities and the transfer to your hotel.\n2. Tuesday–Wednesday: use Kyoto as your base for temples, gardens and dining. Cherry-blossom timing varies; flowering is not guaranteed for these dates.\n3. Thursday: travel to your Nagoya or Suzuka base. The rail journey to Nagoya and the onward circuit transfer are separate legs.\n\nTravelling light: ask Yamato and both hotels about luggage acceptance, collection deadlines and the delivery date before forwarding bags. Keep travel documents and overnight essentials with you.\n\n- [Yamato · luggage delivery](<https://www.kuronekoyamato.co.jp/ytc/en/send/services/takkyubin/>)\n- [JR Central · train planning](<https://global.jr-central.co.jp/en/>)\n\n12–15 April · suggested layover\n\n#### Suzuka → Tokyo → Shanghai\n\nChoose a Tokyo city break if it is part of the trip you want. Otherwise compare departures from the Nagoya area to Shanghai before adding a journey back to Tokyo.\n\n1. Monday–Tuesday: optional Tokyo stay after Suzuka. Include station-to-hotel transfers in the plan.\n2. Wednesday: suggested flight day to Shanghai, leaving a city day before the race weekend. Compare the actual airport pair and baggage allowance.\n3. Thursday: settle into Shanghai and plan the circuit journey. Hongqiao and Pudong are different arrival airports; choose a hotel transfer for the airport you book.\n\nThese are routing suggestions, not a flight timetable or a through-ticket. Check 2027 operating dates, connection protection and airport transfers before booking separate legs.\n\n- [Plan Shanghai arrivals](<https://above.guide/china-f1/getting-to-shanghai>)\n\n03 / Three borders\n\n### Check the whole journey before booking.\n\nRequirements depend on your passport and route. Recheck official guidance before your 2027 departure.\n\n#### Australia · choose by passport\n\nCheck the Australian visa pathway for your passport before booking. eVisitor (subclass 651) and ETA (subclass 601) have different eligibility rules; one application route does not cover every overseas visitor.\n\n- [Home Affairs · visa options](<https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-finder/visit>)\n- [Home Affairs · eVisitor](<https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/evisitor-651>)\n\n#### Japan · prepare arrival details\n\nVisit Japan Web lets you register immigration and customs information and present the resulting code on arrival. It does not replace a visa where one is required.\n\n- [Digital Agency · Visit Japan Web](<https://services.digital.go.jp/en/visit-japan-web/>)\n\n#### China · check 240-hour transit eligibility\n\nEligible passport holders can use the 240-hour visa-free transit policy through designated ports, subject to permitted areas and confirmed onward travel to a third country or region. Japan → Shanghai → Japan is not a third-country transit route. Check your passport, port, onward ticket and permitted stay with the National Immigration Administration and your airline; do not assume admission.\n\n- [China NIA · current transit rules](<https://en.nia.gov.cn/n147418/n147463/c183412/content.html>)\n\n04 / Put the trip together\n\n### Book the pieces in the right order.\n\nResolve entry eligibility first, then compare the flight chain, race access and hotel cancellation terms together. This is an independent planning guide; bookings are made separately with each provider.\n\n#### Hotels · book each base\n\nCompare Melbourne, Kyoto, the Suzuka race base, optional Tokyo and Shanghai as separate stays. Confirm arrival times, cancellation terms and luggage storage before committing to the flight chain.\n\n#### Hospitality · match the edition\n\nCheck the 2027 event and exact days covered for each ticket. A hospitality purchase for one Grand Prix does not include the other races, intercity travel or hotels unless the seller explicitly lists them.\n\n- [F1 Experiences · official hospitality](<https://f1experiences.com/>)\n\n#### Connectivity & payments\n\nCompare the country list for any regional eSIM against all three destinations, along with activation date, validity and roaming terms. Set up your preferred payment methods before departure and carry a backup; check foreign-card support and verification requirements directly with each wallet provider.\n\nCompare the local options in each race guide. Check the edition shown when booking for 2027.\n\n- [Melbourne hotels & bases](<https://above.guide/australia-f1/where-to-stay>)\n- [Suzuka hotels & bases](<https://above.guide/japan-f1/where-to-stay>)\n- [Shanghai hotels & bases](<https://above.guide/china-f1/where-to-stay>)\n\nUpdated 27 September 2026\n\n[← Back to the 2027 F1 calendar](<https://above.guide/f1-2027>)"
