[Plan this experience]() [Explore the story]() Cost **Free public viewing** Time to allow **Allow a flexible hour around dusk** Place **Lady Bird Lake** 01 / The experience ### Congress Avenue Bridge · bat watching Make this a flexible waterfront evening rather than a guaranteed wildlife show. Bat emergence varies with weather and season, and the late-October Grand Prix falls after the strongest viewing period described by local conservation guidance. Check the current outlook before setting off. Use open public viewing areas and keep pedestrian access clear. A quiet riverside walk can still be worthwhile if few bats appear; do not promise your group a mass emergence at a fixed sunset time. ![Congress Avenue Bridge · bat watching, Austin]() Landmarks & outdoors **Congress Avenue Bridge · bat watching** Austin In pictures ### The full gallery. 02 / The essentials ### Congress Avenue Bridge · bat watching: visit essentials 1. 01 Late-October sightings are uncertain 2. 02 No guaranteed emergence time 3. 03 Bridge-area pin, not a boat departure 04 / Before you go ### Plan your visit Enjoy the waterfront and watch for bats, with modest expectations in late October. #### Cost Free public viewing Public bridge-side viewing has no admission ticket.
